In line with this mission, we are thrilled to announce that within the scope of the Private Sector Development and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (PSD-TVET) in the South Caucasus programme, implemented by GIZ, the Armenian delegation of 11 women winemakers participated in the Women in Wine Expo 2024 (WIWE) in Porto, Portugal.
In addition, professional visits to Porto cellars have been organised to empower the skills of women winemakers in wine tourism. Zaruhi Muradyan, the Director of the Vine and Wine Foundation of Armenia, made a presentation “Wine Routes Unveiled: Connecting Cultures, Inspiring Journeys,” illustrating the revival of the wine industry and tourism in Armenia. Mariam Saghatelyan organised a special pouring session featuring Armenian wines. Mariam has a rich experience in wine industry who brings stories and flavours from Armenia’s rich viticultural heritage.
From sustainability talks to dynamic wine tastings, the event, hosted at the World of Wine – the Cultural District, was an extraordinary celebration of wines crafted by women from around the globe honoring women’s contributions to the wine industry.
Participants had the chance to explore diverse and exquisite wines from Portugal, France, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Italy, and of course, Armenia.
